Lay Advisory Board

The mission of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is to promote high levels of health and standards of healthcare throughout the world. We seek to do this by:

  • Promoting life-long learning, promoting high standards of healthcare, developing and conducting appropriate examinations
  • Providing professional support for members, acting as a focus for discussion and debate and advising and influencing government on healthcare issues

The College has a small Lay Advisory Board which meets quarterly and is represented on the College Council. We wish to develop a Lay Advisory Panel of individuals whom the Lay Advisory Board can consult on appropriate issues.

The Lay Advisory structure is required to provide non-medical, non-dental input to the College’s work. The Lay Advisory Board and Panel will do this by:

  • Providing a lay perspective on matters related to post graduate medical training, health service issues or other current matters of interest
  • Commenting on papers produced by College or on consultation documents on which College has been asked to comment Representing the College on other joint committees and liaising with Lay Groups in other Colleges to develop networks
  • Proactively highlighting areas of concern from which the College should have an opinion

Further information on the work of the College can be found on this website. If you are interested finding out more about the role of the Lay Advisory structure, please contact Carolyn Capps at: carolyn.capps@rcpsg.ac.uk
