If you are a surgeon and a Fellow/Member, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), The Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng), The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) and The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) are pleased to announce the launch today, 8 December 2011, of surgeonsportfolio.
Developed on an intercollegiate basis with the support of the Specialty Associations, surgeonsportfolio offers a 'cradle to grave' electronic means of recording all aspects of a surgeon's professional life, including clinical practice, professional development activities, peer analysis and audit tools, all of which are tailored to Specialty requirements where appropiate. Importantly, surgeonsportfolio will deliver the requirements for revalidation and store valuable information for annual appraisal, all within an e-system which is compliant with data protection requirements.
As surgeonsportfolio incorporates the well-established RCSEd elogbook, all existing users will be able to utilise their information for the surgeonsportfolio - trainees also, will have a seamless transition into surgeonsportfolio at the appropiate time in their career.
Looking ahead, further developments are in the pipeline, including Smartphone data entry, and links to hospital-based systems to allow automatic updates of surgeonsportfolio information.
Surgeonsportfloi is being offered at no charge by all four Colleges as a benefit of membership for those whose subscriptions are up-to-date with their College. Others will be able to access it on payment of an appropiate fee.

CPD Frequently Asked Questions
How do I access the diary? Go to http://cpd.rcplondon.ac.uk/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fIndex.aspx
I only work part time - what are my requirements for CPD? Even if you only work part time, you need to meet the same requirements as full time staff.
I have been off on maternity leave/long term sick - how do I enter this? You should use the Exemptions section to make up your total of 50. Although entered, this number is not counted in the following years and you therefore need to do extra sessions so that you make up the number in the following exemptions. This system operates a rolling five year programme and this year will eventually roll out of your records. Please call one of the support numbers to get a fuller explanation if required.
I have made a mistake in an entry - how do I correct this? If you wish to take out the entry altogether, then click on the orange 'Remove' button at the right hand side. If you wish to amend the entry, click on the Title concerned and use the 'Edit' buttons.
An entry I have made has gone into the wrong year. You have probably put the wrong year in the date - please go to 'Credits Achieved' tab (as above) and look at the record in question. You can click on the year from this screen and edit in the usual way. The entry will automatically go to the correct year.
I forgot to add/made an error in my last year's record - can I add/amend now? Sorry, but the system is locked at 30 June each year for the audit and no changes can be made after this date. You should keep a paper copy for evidence of your attendance in case you need it.
I have more than 50 credits but the system states that I have not reached the requirements. You need to have the credits in the correct categories to qualify. Remember that only 10 of the 'personal' entries will count, as they are capped at this number even though the system records all of your entries. 25 of the 50 must also be External.
I have forgotten my username/password. Click on 'Forgotten Password' line on the log in page of the Diary.
I have forgotten how to use the system - can you help? http://www.rcplondon.ac.uk/sites/default/files/using-the-cpd-diary-scheme.pdf
