The need for Clinical Leadership
In health services across the world, clinical leaders are called upon to lead service change, quality improvement and patient safety, clinical research and education. Without the engagement of clinicians in these topics, there is a tendency for them not to progress.
Clinical leadership needs to be developed to help our service leaders and clinical researchers and educators. This course will benefit all clinicians (with the appropriate academic background) and it fits well with other available non-degree courses and the recent work of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges.
Content
The content of the programme has taken into account the NHS Scotland Leadership Development Framework and the current, non-credit bearing NHS Scotland Clinical Leadership Programme, with which it is designed to articulate and offer those completing it the opportunity of limited credit towards the MSc programme.
Aim
The aim of this programme is to develop and enhance the clinical leadership skills and reputation for effective leadership of physicians, surgeons and other senior clinical leaders.
