Administrative/Biographical History
Dr Kennedy was born at Inchinnan, Renfrewshire and studied medicine at Anderson’s College, Glasgow. He took the triple qualification of the three Scottish medical colleges in 1887. Afterwards he practised in the Townhead district of Glasgow. For many years he was a lecturer to the Ambulance Corps at Queen Street and Buchanan Street railway stations. He also acted as examiner of classes under the St Andrews Ambulance Association, and for some time held the appointment of Surgeon to the Glasgow Central Dispensary. He died on 18 April 1914.

Material relating to John Kennedy’s studies, 1878-1887, including a receipt from the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow regarding his payment of fees and a Certificate of Proficiency in Public Vaccination; letter to C M Frazer, 1897; photographs, c. 1882-1892.
