Administrative/Biographical History
Robert Leishman qualified Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in (MB, ChB) in 1932, Doctor of Medicine (MD) with Honours from Glasgow in 1948 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1964. He won the Treacher Collins Prize in 1954. He was the author of the chapter entitled ‘The Cardiovascular and Haemopoietic Systems’ in Modern Ophthalmology in 1963; ‘Gastric Function in Tobacco Amblyopia’ in Transactions of the Ophthalmologic Societies of Great Britain in 1951 and ‘Eye in General Vascular Disorder’ in the British Journal of Ophthalmology in 1957. He was Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Southern General Hospital, Glasgow.

Materials relating to articles entitled ‘The Influence of Vascular Changes in Progressive Failure of Vision’, 1958, ‘The Cardiovascular and Haemopoietic Systems’, 1961-1962 and ‘Vascular Diseases of the Retina’, 1966-1967.
