Administrative/Biographical History
Dr Davidson gained his medical qualifications from Edinburgh University, MB ChB in 1948 and MD in 1964, and later undertook his radiological training at the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh and at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. Now retired he was formerly Consultant Radiologist in administrative charge at the Western Infirmary and Gartnavel General Hospital, Glasgow. He also held consultant radiology posts in Sydney, Australia between 1991 and 1993, and carried out similar work in district general hospitals in Scotland. From 1967 to 1990 Dr Davidson was an honorary clinical lecturer at Glasgow University. He was admitted as Honorary Fellow of the American College of Radiology, the Royal Australian College of Radiology and the Scottish Radiology Society. To date Dr Davidson has published a considerable number of scientific journals on a wide ranging variety of topics and has contributed to a number of textbooks on topics including skeletal disorders and ultrasound. The Newton Victor Model K-5 Portable X-Ray Unit was used by Dr Davidson in the course of his work. In 1990 Dr Davidson was awarded the honour of OBE.

Operating and maintenance instructions for the Newton Victor Model K-5 Portable X-Ray Unit c.1940; Papers and newspaper cuttings relating to the Health Care International Hospital, Clydebank, 1987-2002; X-rays of transluminal angioplasty carried out at the Southern General Hospital, 1965; early ultrasound scan, 1968.
