Fellowship
Fellows of the College include medical and dental specialists of senior standing.  Dental Fellows may be identified by the postnominal letters FDS RCPS(Glasg) or FDS.  Elevation to Fellowship always requires nomination by one or two (where indicated) sponsors who are already Fellows of the College, one of which will be required to provide a statement of support for your application.

There are two routes to Fellowship: Standard and Non-Standard.
Fellowship(Standard): This is a normal progression for Members of the College who have been successful in completing the MFDS RCPSG plus an Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in one of the following specialties (dental public health, oral medicine, oral surgery, orthdontics, paediatric dentistry and restorative dentistry) OR hold the equivalent qualification from one of the other Royal Colleges of the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Fellowship(Non-Standard): This class of Fellowship includes any senior member of the medical or dental professions whose published work and attainments are, in the opinion of the Council, of such distinction as to justify election.  All nominations are scrutinised and recommended by the Fellowship Committee.  Council may elect candidates to the Fellowship via this route.

Application procedure:
Submit the completed fellowship application form PLUS a brief CV PLUS the name of one/two sponsors (as indicated on the form).  Your sponsor(s) should be a Fellow(s) of the College, and in good standing.  Signatures of sponsors are required, one of whom should provide a statement in support of your application.

Membership
Members of the College include qualified physicians, surgeons and dentists deemed of a high enough standard to warrant membership status.  Dental Members are entitled to use the designated letters MFDS RCPS(Glasg).

There are two routes to Membership: Standard and Non-Standard.
Membership (standard):  To qualify for Membership of the Dental Faculty, participants are required to satisfactorally pass MFDS part one and part two examinations, and have completed the current foundation training or have passed the MGDS, MCCD, MDO, and MOMS examinations administered by the College or the intercollegiate membership examinations in Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry and Surgical Dentistry.

Membership (Non-Standard):  Members of another Royal College of the UK and Ireland or practitioners able to demonstrate to the Dental Council that their higher qualifications are appropriate to justify admission may also be elected as members of the College.

Application procedure:
Standard Membership Applicants will be invited to proceed to admission on receipt of MFDS award notification (please contact Membership Services on +44 (0)141 221 6072 if you do not receive this information).  Non-Standard Applicants should complete the membership application form and provide evidence of having passed the appropriate examination (e.g. a copy of your diploma). Those who do not have a registerable qualification must provide the names of two sponsors who are Fellows of the College in good standing.
