Realising Your Potential Through RCPSG Membership
With expectations placed upon professionals to meet ever increasing standards in healthcare, and the forthcoming requirements for revalidation, Membership with RCPSG will enable you to maintain proof of professional standing and/or advance your career. By participating in targeted benefit packages appropriate to each stage of your career (e.g. educational events, CPD, professional support and examination and assessent advice) you will be able to harness your full potential. The information below sets out the criteria and process for applying for membership as a Surgeon or Physician. Physician
As a physician, membership to the College brings a number of benefits. A popular benefit among members is the facility to pay your annual JRCPTB fee along with your annual membership subscription. This facility not only minimises your personal administration but also gives way to gaining a tax benefit. Prior to being admitted to the College, you must satisfactorily pass the MRCP(UK) examination. For information about this exam go to medical examinations.

Once in membership, Members are entitled to use the designation letters MRCP(UK). Candidates joining RCPSG are entitled to retain this designation and in addition, may use the designation letters MRCPS(Glasg).

How to Apply: On receiving formal notification of results, you will be invited to proceed to admisison. Along with receiving your results, you should receive a collegiate membership booklet and reply form to confirm your admission. If you do not receive this information by mail then, contact RCPSG’s Membership Services on +44 (0) 141 221 6072. For information regarding admissions go to the mini site on the left side toolbar.

Membership (non standard)
Membership of the College is also open to existing members of one of the Royal Colleges of Physicians in the UK. In other words, any individual who has passed the MRCP(UK) examination and is in the process of being admitted as a member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (see note below), or any indvidual whose higher qualification is, in the opinion of the Council, appropriate e.g. MRCPath, MRCPCH, MRCP(I) is eligible to be admitted.

Once in membership, Members are entitled to use the designation letters MRCPS(Glasg), and will (if applicable) retain their entitlement to use MRCP(UK).

Note: Individuals who are being admitted as members of the Royal  College of Phyicians of the United Kingdom are not entitled to use the designation letters MRCPS(Glasg).

How to Apply: Those applying for Membership (non standard) should complete a membership application form. Please ensure that you provide evidence of having passed the appropriate examination (e.g. a copy of your diploma). Those who do not have a registered qualification must provide the names of two sponsors who are Fellows of the College in good standing.

Surgeon
Prior to being admitted to the College, you must satisfactorily pass the intercollegiate MRCS(GB&I) examination administered by the College. For information about this exam go to Surgical Examinations. If you have satisfactorily passed this examination through one of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in the UK, you may also apply for membership. For instructions on how to apply, please see non standard admission below.

Once in membership, Members are entitled to use the designation letters MRCS(Glasg).

Membership (non standard)
Membership of the College is also open to those who are an existing member of one of the other Royal Colleges of Surgeons (GB&I) or any individual whose higher qualification is, in the opinion of the Council, appropriate to justify such admission e.g. MRCS(Ed), MRCS(Eng), MRCS(I).

Once in membership, Members are entitlted to use the designation letters MRCPS(Glasg).
