Update *** The Lillian Lindsay Memorial Lecture on Saturday 21st May 2005 at the British Dental Association Annual Conference in Glasgow, which was to have been given by the late Dr Henry Noble, is now to be delivered by Professor David McGowan. The subject is the Glasgow contribution to the study of the history of dentistry. *** The task of recording the long standing contribution of Glasgow graduates to the dental service of the International Grenfell Association in Labrador, begins with an article in which Bill Hutton remembers his adventures in the snow. *** The significance of dental and oral pain and discomfort in the lives of world leaders is brought out in David Wray's account of an episode in the life of Lord Beaverbrook, a Canadian who was adviser to King Edward VIII, and who subsequently held key posts in Churchill's war time cabinet. *** The refurbishment of the reading room area, rare book room and archive room of the library at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, has been brought to a splendid conclusion as Carol Parry tells us in her regular report. *** Our 'Word of Mouth' section in this issue comes from the USA, from Dr Malvin Ring whom we are pleased to note is becoming a regular contributor. *** home | newsletter | news |
