Eric Lee of York is researching the history of podiatry and e-mailed an enquiry about the past links of both dentistry and podiatry with the barbers, to which the chairman has replied. Mr Lee refers to a PhD Thesis by P. J.Mandy on "The nature and status of chiropody and dentistry" submitted at the University of Sussex in 2000.

A.P. Russel-Bishop (arussellbishop@talk2 1 .com) is seeking information about his dental surgeon great grandfather who was based in Malvern and died in 1958 and whom he describes, inter alia, as one of the wealthiest men in England. He has been advised on suitable sources.

Pat Wahlman - a fifth-grade humanities student in the USA has been sent a reprint of an article from Issue no 5 on attending dental school in the 1890s

Daniel Schramm has e-mailed to advise us of the forthcoming auction sale of at small 'but exquisite' collection of books and instruments of dental medicine. It consists of about 40 books by Hunter, Fauchard, Maury, Owen and others, and about 48 various medical instruments from the 1 8th - 20th century.
