Trainees Committee

The role of the trainees' committee is to inform and advise the College on key issues which directly impact trainees, and to contribute to discussions and activities around all aspects of College life.

Lifetime Fellowship

This exclusive package offers long-standing members the opportunity to pay a one-off fee of £799 in return for which you will retain existing membership benefits plus gain additional incentives as part of this elite group of senior Fellows. Additional benefits will include:

  • A certificate confirming your enhanced status and contribution to the College;
  • The opportunity to contribute to College-led consultations within our Policy Network.
  • You will no longer have to pay the annual retired subscription fee whilst ensuring you retain your links with the College.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A current Fellow in good standing
  • Have been in good standing for at least 10 years
  • Be over 60 years of age
  • Fully retired from clinical practice

How to pay your membership fee

Direct Debit

If you have a UK bank account, you can pay by a single or monthly direct debit. The majority of our eligible members find this the most convenient way to pay.

Credit/Debit Card

You can pay by card online via the member dashboard.

Other Payment Methods

We encourage our members to pay by Direct Debit or credit/debit cards, but you can still pay your subscription fees offline. Payments done via cheque, bank transfer and BACS require more time to be processed and you may not have access to your benefits during that time.

Claim Tax Back

If you live in the United Kingdom, your annual subscription is an allowable deduction for Income Tax purposes. You can login to your dashboard and download a report from the My Receipts page.

What matters to you?

Professional fulfilment and the feeling of satisfaction at the end of a working day when my actions have positively impacted on my patients and colleagues. Promoting organ donation and improving access to transplantation. Creating a happy and calm home for my family and ensuring a work-life balance where there is equity between different aspects of my life.

What motivates you?

The desire to improve the situation for patients with end stage renal failure and diabetes through transplantation. To research new techniques and medication to ameliorate ischaemia-reperfusion injury in renal transplant. To be a role model for more junior trainees and medical students to encourage them to consider a career in surgery.

If you could change anything what would it be?

To ensure that all those on kidney transplant waiting list have access to living donor organs to improve their quality and length of life compared to dialysis.

Dr Vasitha Abeysuriya

What matters to you?

Patient care and safety. Evidence base teaching to undergraduates and postgraduates.

What motivates you?

Cheerful patient outcome and gained students of my teachings in both undergraduates and postgraduates.

If you could change anything what would it be?

As I live and practice in low income developing world, it would be much appreciated that if I could get more support which is financially affordable to us from the developed world to improve our surgical clinical practices, carrier development and research.

If you could change anything what would it be?

Education and health status of my country.

Amr Nabil Hafez Abdeldayem

What matters to you?

Improving quality of life of patients.

What motivates you?

Learning new techniques in surgeries, and improving my knowledge in medicine.

If you could change anything what would it be?

I would like to change the ease of transfers of doctors throughout the world, so for example surgeons would exchange their experiences for the good of the patients worldwide.
